TRAC – Théâtre rural d’animation culturelle

TRAC, Théâtre Rural d’Animation Culturelle de Beaumes-de-Venise, is a popular education association dedicated to cultural development since 1979, particularly in rural areas. Its goal is to make artistic creativity and “the magic of theatrical play” accessible to all through training, production, and dissemination.
With the support of volunteers, amateur actors, and professionals (musicians, artists, stage technicians), TRAC has developed innovative theatrical tools, including the Salle Fracasse (“a real countryside theater!”), the Théâtr’œuf (an original theatrical device), and a “mobile theater” performed in unique locations, from cultural heritage sites to natural landscapes, even internationally.
In 2024, after 45 years of experience, TRAC has strengthened its local presence (300+ performances for nearly 200,000 spectators and over 2,500 shows) and expanded globally (50 trips across 26 countries).

TRAC shares the joy of performance and emotion with diverse audiences in unusual locations, natural sites, and heritage sites (quarries, meadows, chapels, squares, churchyards, farms, trails, etc.).
From local communities to international stages, it has taken this step 27 times in 19 countries! In 1986, it began the construction of a theatre in the countryside: the Salle Fracasse, which has been dedicated to popular education and artistic practice since 2003.
This openness and desire to work collaboratively enabled Trac to obtain the “Cultural Development Hub” label from the Vaucluse General Council in 2005.
Through this approach, the association seeks to collectively create and deconstruct the ephemeral “theatrical art”: a theatre of enchantment, poised between tradition and innovation, in order to perhaps contribute to enchanting people and the world.
